Tree Care for St Kilda's Gardens
St Kilda mixes grand old mansions, dense apartment blocks and tightly-held period homes, with a streetscape defined by mature palms, planes and exotics. The coastal position brings salt wind and storm exposure, and the density means much of the tree work here is access-constrained and permit-sensitive.
Leafy Tree Care provides the full range of tree services across St Kilda. Whether it's palm maintenance, a large tree over a shared boundary, or a removal on a tight inner-city block, we handle every job to the Australian Standard and manage Port Phillip's significant-tree rules on your behalf.

๐๏ธ Port Phillip Council Permits โ The Local Rules
St Kilda falls under the City of Port Phillip, which protects significant trees on private land under its Community Amenity Local Law 2023.
A tree or palm is classified as significant (and needs a permit to prune or remove) if it has a trunk circumference of 150cm or more, measured 1 metre from the base. Multi-stemmed trees are assessed on their combined exterior stems at the same point.
Pruning a significant tree's branches that overhang a footpath or road (up to 2.1m), or that obstruct sightlines or pose a road danger, is generally exempt. Port Phillip's removal permit fee is around $290. We'll confirm whether a permit is needed, prepare the certified arborist report, and guide you through the application.
