Tree Care for Fairfield's Gardens
Fairfield is a tightly-held pocket of Melbourne's inner north, known for its village strip, period homes and leafy streets running down toward the Yarra. Many gardens hold mature exotics and natives, and the suburb's creek and river edges carry significant vegetation that's protected under Darebin's controls.
Leafy Tree Care provides the full range of tree services across Fairfield. Whether it's a heritage garden needing careful pruning, a large tree over a compact block, or a removal tied to a renovation, we handle every job to the Australian Standard and navigate Darebin's tree protection rules on your behalf.

๐๏ธ Darebin Council Permits โ The Local Rules
Fairfield falls under the City of Darebin, which protects significant trees on private land under its Tree Protection on Private Property Local Law No. 1 of 2019.
A tree is classified as significant (and needs a permit to prune or remove) if it has a single or combined trunk circumference greater than 100cm, measured 1.5 metres above the ground, AND is taller than 8 metres. Both conditions must be met. Properties within a Vegetation Protection Overlay or with restrictive planning history may have further controls.
Darebin's removal permit fee is around $270, and removal applications must include a replacement-planting plan. Pruning of non-structural branches 75mm in diameter or less is generally exempt, as is work carried out by a qualified arborist to AS 4373-2007. We'll confirm what applies, prepare the report, and handle the application for you.
